Recovery and Resiliency
What is Recovery?
Regarding mental illness, recovery can look different from one individual to another. Recovery is learning and practicing effective coping mechanisms and accessing appropriate treatments that can allow a person to enjoy meaningful life beyond one’s diagnosis. Achieving recovery is a process that is greatly enhanced and facilitated by proper support. Maintaining recovery is viewed by many as a journey – a continual work in progress that empowers individuals affected by mental illness to lead fulfilling lives not limited by their conditions.
What is Resiliency?
Resiliency revolves around promoting positive outcomes for young people affected by mental health conditions. This begins with an emphasis on early identification of risk factors and addressing the overall needs of every child and young person. All of this is done to guide children and young adults toward success, maximizing their well being and allowing for healthy development and the fulfillment of their potential.
