Mental Health Awareness Dates

Several dates and months are set aside throughout the year to celebrate mental health and raise awareness about mental illness. These time periods offer an excellent opportunity to show your support, initiate conversations, and bring awareness to mental health, all important steps to eliminating the stigma that keeps many from recognizing or seeking help. Below are a few, but are not exhaustive:

Mental Health Awareness Month – May
National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day – May 5
National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month – July
Recovery Month – September
World Suicide Prevention Day – September 10
Worldwide Mental Health Day – October 10

Be sure to like and follow us on Facebook for mental health awareness posts that you can share to help spread education and erase stigma surrounding mental illness during these and other noteworthy events.  You can also check out our volunteer section for ideas on how to make the most of these opportunities.
